Running and walking routes

Runners and walkers will find fantastic routes in Igls' beautiful countryside. The 3.5km and 5km running and walking circuits enjoy minor differences in altitude and run from Igls to the neighbouring village of Lans. The Kneipp walking pool at the route's point of departure and arrival is a great place for refreshing tired legs.

Innsbruck's via ferrata

A certain amount of mountaineering experience, sure-footedness and above all, no fear of heights, are definitely required to master the via ferrata that leads from the Hafelekar to the Frau Hitt col; other than that nothing stand sin the way of your climbing pleasure. Innsbruck literally lies at your feet. We can supply you with the appropriate climbing gear, which is absolutely essential for anyone wishing to take part in this activity.

Goldbichl rock climbing practice area in Igls

Aim high at the Goldbichl rock climbing practice area in Igls which has two sections with a total of 13 climbing routes for all abilities as well as bouldering facilities. Entry is free. Guides from Alpinschule Innsbruck Alpine school are available to groups.

Mountain biking and e-bikes

Igls is ideally suited for cycling and mountain biking. One of the delightful mountain bike routes starts at the Patscherkofel lower cable car terminus, and runs for 9.3 kilometres at an altitude of 300 metres above Heiligwasser (halfway up Patscherkofel) to Patsch and then back to Igls. Mountain bikes are available free of charge at Sporthotel IGLS. State-of-the-art e-bikes are available for a fee at the hotel.

Summer bobsleighing

Adrenaline junkies get their kicks on the Olympic artificial ice bobsleigh and luge run in Igls. Experience a thrilling ride on the famous bobsleigh run at a speed of around 100km/hr . Expert pilots ensure your safe arrival at the finish line in specially constructed roller-bobsleighs.

Beach volleyball

The beach volleyball court is only five minutes away from Sporthotel IGLS. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and bump and smash to your heart's content against the stunning backdrop of the surrounding mountains.


If you action is what you seek, rafting in the Imst Gorge (Inn), Europe's most popular rafting area, is an absolute must. Once you have been kitted out and your qualified rafting guide has completed the safety talk and introduction, your journey through the picturesque Imst Gorge can begin. The tour on the 14.5km long stretch takes approximately two hours. Once you have disembarked, a taxi will take you back to the starting point. You must be able to swim to participate in this adventure, which runs from May to October.
