New – newer – the latest: up onto the Patscherkofel!
Things are really happening on the Patscherkofel. They began demolishing the old Berghotel at the beginning of September and the plans for the new restaurant were completed. There will be seating for 170 both inside and outside. In this way Innsbruck`s “holy mountain” will present itself in new splendour!
But things are also happening further down in the valley, at the Olympia Express (OLEX for short). A restaurant, including seminar rooms and shops, is being built. The Heiligwasser meadows are going to be turned into a youth training centre which will have its own lift and illuminated piste. The kids haven`t been left out and will get their own Kinderland. Ski racers and training teams will get their own separate area, so that people don`t get in each other`s way.
Allround Facelift
We mustn`t forget to mention the improvements (and widening) of the pistes either! A floodlit stretch on the piste will be installed from the mountain terminal of the Olympia Express, which will invite you to go skiing in the evening or at night. What is more, the Patscherkofel will soon be ready to be used for ski races again. After its extension there are plans for Europa and perhaps even world cup races. But you can already sense the racing flair – as least as far as the piste conversions are concerned. After all the new restaurant and the Skiarena Olympiaexpress want to be open on time at the beginning of the season!
